Martha Argerich on FAZIOLI
Friday, August 30th, 2024 – Portoferraio (Elba), Italy, at the Teatro dei Vigilanti “Renato Cioni” theatre. Not a single empty seat in sight, and an audience completely captivated as the sounds of Felix Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio No.1, Op.49 filled the music hall. This breathtaking performance marked the beginning of the 28th edition of Elba Isola Musicale d’Europa, one of the world’s most prestigious classical music festivals.
The star of the evening’s inaugural concert? Legendary Argentine pianist Martha Argerich, performing on a FAZIOLI piano. Joining Argerich were violinist Liana Gourdjia and cellist Raphael Bell, whose harmonious performance enchanted the audience. Argerich dedicated the evening’s program to the memory of her dear friend, renowned conductor Claudio Abbado, marking the tenth anniversary of his passing.
It was a night to remember, filled with extraordinary music, the celebration of friendships, and the renewal of the rich cultural traditions that define this island festival.
